At 49, I was working out five days a week, eating well, doing “all the right things” when my body suddenly changed in what felt like overnight: I lost muscle tone, gained belly fat, and started feeling like a stranger in my own skin.
What I hadn't realized was that my midlife body needed something different from all those group fitness classes with weights. It needed proper strength training.
So I started in the simplest way possible: in my basement, with old dumbbells following a clear, structured strength plan.
